Think I’m talking to myself. Never mind.

Running a small criminal defence firm which is almost entirely funded by government legal aid is really hard. The money isn’t there to keep the bills paid. Anyone who thinks lawyers in the UK Criminal Justice System need to come and look at my bank balance. I’ve just done the sums for this month and I really wish I hadn’t, plus VAT time again!!

Well, just to update, I have finished the DCI Grimm book 2. Very good! And I still think ITV or the BBC should be adapting the novels for the TV. I’m now reading The Sinner by Tess Gerritson. It is the third Rizzoli and Isles novel. I have been a big fan of the TV adaptations of these characters but have only just started the books. I’m really enjoying them although the characters are a little different in the books than on the TV but that is not surprising. If you have read any of the Frost novels you’ll know that David Jason’s character in the TV series was much more likable the character in the book.

I am now reading book 2 in the DCI Harry Grimm novels. It is called Best Served Cold and it is by David J Gatward. I am only half way through having already read book 1 but I love the character of Harry Grimm. He is a DCI and retired soldier. Whilst serving in the army he was facially disfigured and the theme is that he is Grimm by name and grim to look at. I would love to see them made into a TV show. The question is who would play Grimm?

Been a busy few days here in the world of criminal law. Don’t know if I am coming or going! Police station training underway and nearly finished my training contract. So much work to type up it’s frightening!! BUT I did finish Westwood by JD Kirk. Hoon is just the most brilliantly written character although as I am sure I have said before if I met him in real life I’d probably dislike him! If you haven’t already read these novels or the Jack Logan ones you must!! Now what to read next…..
-
So I managed to get the time to finish this at last! It is quite close to the reality of today despite being published in 2013. There’s an epidemic, financial problems for the middle classes and the accompanied shame (as they perceive it) when the money runs out. It is well worth the read.
I am now going to read the latest Hoon novel by JD Kirk. I think I can guarantee it’ll be good!!!
Keep on reading!

I didn’t get time yesterday to say this but YAY! JD Kirk has just released the 3rd Hoon novel. It’s called Westward and he says it is the best book he has written! So lets wait and see. I need to finish The Deaths first definitely need to get my reading head on!
Happy Wednesday!!

Good Morning!! I hope it was sunny this weekend wherever you may be in the world! I enjoyed sitting out and taking a little break from work! I did start a new book though. It is called The Deaths by Mark Lawson, an author I have not read before. I am intrigued by the characters in this book, who aren’t necessarily that likeable but I am looking forward to seeing how the deaths, which are referred to in the opening chapter, actually come about as the back story unfolds.
I will let you know how I get on with it!

It will soon be the weekend! And here in England we are due some wonderful weather, we hope! What is everyone planning on doing this weekend and what are you reading!

So yesterday was spent watching the disaster that is the Tory Government but back to reading today and I finished Trick of the Night by Joy Ellis. This is book five in her Matt Ballard series. Another excellent book that keeps you intrigued.
I like Joy Ellis. She also writes the Nikki Galena series and the Jackman and Evans series. All are set in the Lincolnshire Fens and there are some cross overs between the characters such as Rory Wilkinson the pathologist. Another series of books where the characters are relatable and likeable. Again they are available on your Kindle or in paperback.
